Hi! I'm George Drapeau.

I am biracial (raised by a Latina mother and a Native American father), the first in my family to graduate college, a member of a mixed-race family, and the father of a Black son.

Because of my complex identities and experiences, I understand how inequity impacts students and families. I was the first one in my family to attend college and I learned first hand the critical value of having access to opportunities, resources, and caring adults.

Professionally, I’m a software executive.  Collaboration has been the cornerstone of my career. I lead a talented and resourceful group of engineers in building solutions combining the best technology and ideas from commercial institutions and open community software developers.

From my work experiences, I have learned critical lessons that will serve me well on the school board: about the value of listening closely, communicating clearly and frequently, negotiating priorities, and finding common ground.

Financial management is one of my superpowers. For work, I have managed complex, million-dollar budgets addressing compensation, facilities, and depreciation schedules.  Budget stability is critical for the school district, but you cannot achieve it without budget discipline.  I have managed within my budget for the last 20+ years.
